Description
The painting, La Vierge au coussin vert (The Virgin with Green Cushion) is in The Louvre, Paris. Artist Andrea Solario or Solari (1465-1524) .
Solario was a Renaissance painter of the Milanese school (he was born, and died in Milan), and an important follower of Leonardo da Vinci.
His early training came from his brother Cristoforo, a distinguished sculptor and architect. He probably accompanied his brother to Venice, where Andrea seems to have been strongly influenced by Antonello da Messina.
